If you want to buy the book, go ahead, just be careful of superbookdeals, they take your money but don't deliver and don't answer emails. Caveat Emptor.

Another useless investment teaser book!.......2004-04-10

I'm tempted to start writing what I call 'investment teaser books' - investment books that claim to introduce new concepts, set the scene, don't deliver anything and are essentially just adverts for the author's website. These books are almost invariably useless, although I occasionally buy them by mistake because I order them over the Web without looking at a copy before hand.

Anyway, this is an EW-inspired 'teaser book', that basically offers new ways of torturing raw data so that it fits spirals/channels/ellipses.

For example, the author tells us that you can always draw an elliptical envelope around short term trends. You never quite know how long the price is going to stay in that ellipse, but if it breaks through the ellíptical wall, then, have you guessed? That's right, time to start carefully drawing the next ellipse. Sometimes, prices are in two ellipses at once. The problem is that you never quite know whether you've got the right ellipse, because the authors couldn't possibly give away their proprietary calculation method for only the cover price of the book.

The section on spirals suffers from the classic vice of 'advanced' technical analysis that draws so many lines on a chart that the price will eventually hit one of them.

You can also put their amazing new tools together and get something really psychedelic.

This is by no means the worst book (that honor belongs to Connie Brown)on TA even though it's turgidly written , but I'm not sure how you use it to make money except to write one of your own which draws lots of complex geometric figures over winning trades. (I'll have to do a 3D one that projects price and time onto the surface of a parabolic hyperboloid and call it 'Non-Euclidean Trading'). Keep your money, people.

Not an Easy Read!.......2004-03-29

I am smiling at one reviewer who says this book is an easy read. Wow! The guy must have an I.Q. of at least 150. I am not even 1/3 thru the book and my brain is totally fried. The software? It doesnt seem to be usable for someone at less than a very advanced fibonacci level.

Practical Fibonacci Tricks v Guesswork.......2003-07-18

If you wanted a countertrend method for trading and like to add Fibonacci shapes, this is the book. While wave counts are certainly important, the book gives confirmation for wave counts by either Fibonacci summations or time goal ratios to confirm your current wave. There is no guarantee actual price will comply, but then any pattern trade should have no guarantee either--pennants, head and shoulders, etc. Worth a look if you are looking to add another trick to the bag of trading strategies. Also, work the examples so you will see the author actually losses money on some trades using this strategy and makes money in others. Looks like the author has integrity and some honestly because he presents the frequency of trades, success/failures, profit/loss, and graphs to confirm his trades.

Although Fibonacci tools.......2003-03-12

can do a great job in your trading, this is not the way you can use them. The main concern is always what pivots you use to draw a spiral or to draw the fibonacci time goals. It certainly looks great in hindsight but what about the swing pivoz highs and lows you use. Where is the rule for using ceratin pivots or swings. Sorry, this is a very soundly written book, but what is the real deal when it comes to real trading?

Bankruptcy in America, in stark contrast to its status in most other countries, typically signifies not a debtor's last gasp but an opportunity to catch one's breath and recoup. Why has the nation's legal system evolved to allow both corporate and individual debtors greater control over their fate than imaginable elsewhere? Masterfully probing the political dynamics behind this question, David Skeel here provides the first complete account of the remarkable journey American bankruptcy law has taken from its beginnings in 1800, when Congress lifted the country's first bankruptcy code right out of English law, to the present day.

Skeel shows that the confluence of three forces that emerged over many years--an organized creditor lobby, pro-debtor ideological currents, and an increasingly powerful bankruptcy bar--explains the distinctive contours of American bankruptcy law. Their interplay, he argues in clear, inviting prose, has seen efforts to legislate bankruptcy become a compelling battle royale between bankers and lawyers--one in which the bankers recently seem to have gained the upper hand. Skeel demonstrates, for example, that a fiercely divided bankruptcy commission and the 1994 Republican takeover of Congress have yielded the recent, ideologically charged battles over consumer bankruptcy.

A thorough, well-written history of US bankruptcy law.......2002-04-11

Mr. Skeel's book is an excellent description of the meandering history of bankruptcy legislation in the United States, linked to the conflicting reactions bankruptcy legislation has always provoked (debtors are expected to pay; but those who for, reasons beyond their control, become unable to do it, are morally entitled to relief and to a fresh start). The book's introductory chapter explains well the basic legal concepts underlying subsequent chapters and makes the book quite accesible to non-specialists. Besides factual information about legislative changes since the beginning of the XIX century - I found particularly interesting Chapter 2, on how judges created de facto a regimen akin to modern Chapter 11 to deal with bankrupt railroads-, the book frames some of those changes in terms of "public choice" theory. For instance, I found interesting Mr. Skeel's view that the conflicting preferences of the various political groups represented in Congress led to a pattern of cyclical majorities among three alternatives (i.e. a)no bankruptcy law b)strict, "complete" pro-creditor bankruptcy code, and c)lenient, "voluntary-only" pro-debtor bankruptcy legislation) which might explain the instability of US bankruptcy law up to 1898. Chapter 4, on legislative changes introduced in the 30s in the backlash against the previous excesses in Wall Street, sheds significant light on some outstanding and recently-discussed differences between US and British bond legislation (e.g. the prohibition in the US, under the 1939 Trust Indenture Act, of many "collective action clauses" allowing bondholders to accept by majority -as oppposed to unanimity- changes in the terms of the bonds). Some short passages of the book -e.g., those explaining changes in the internal pecking order within the legal professions- will appeal primarily to US practitioners and academics, not so much to a wider audience. The book covers lots of ground and is highly recommendable as written. But if Mr. Skeel were willing to expand its scope, it is easy to think of additional areas which he might usefully explore, at least briefly, in future editions (e.g.lessons from Enron's debacle; recent international debates on "collective action clauses" or even Chapter 11-like "Sovereign Debt Restructuring Mechanism" to deal with the bankruptcy of sovereign borrowers; a more detailed description of Thomas Jackson's characterization of bankruptcy as a "prisoner's dilemma" for creditors;or, finally, to highlight the relatively lenient US bankruptcy law, some passing reference to the traditional, British-style debtors' gaol so well described by Dickens and other authors).

I started at the beginning of September tracking how much I spend in every catagory, and I have some shaving to do on my spending for sure, but this book lets me track everything from atm fees to my lotto tickets, to gas purchases. I've been able to have my paycheck last through out the week so far for the past few weeks.

Worth a look. Supplemental guide........2007-04-15

This book is an excellent, budget, worksheet resource because it's the unplanned for, non-monthly, but still regular expenses that punch holes in any "monthly" budget plan. For those who've forgotten about quarterly, semi-annual, annual, birthday/holiday, etc., expenses it's a real eye opener. Couple that with modern society's growing use/dependency on non-cash transactions . . . credit cards . . . debit cards . . . prepaid cards . . . and most people don't realize how much they're actually spending at any given time/moment. But be FOREWARNED any new budgeters, this book is very weak on "overview" . . . there's no "big picture." A very simplified explanation of why one needs to do what, when, and how rolling into . . . "and this is how we get started" . . . is nowhere to be found. There's a reason one needs to initially track every expense (to identify what you're actually spending your money on) . . . organize that into some form of logical summary (determine the actual total cost of the lattes here, magazines there, fast food, etc.) . . . and develop a plan of attack if change is needed/required . . . is sorely missing. For those new to budgeting, it's not intuitively obvious. I was neither interested in nor cared that they included free budget (Mvelopes) software . . . but I did find it rather interesting that right out of the gate they discourage anyone from using Quicken or MSMoney with the quote, "I have found that for many people there is critical tactile and visual learning that occurs with the manual approach that does not happen as effectively electronically" . . . and then immediately follow that up with their software Mvelopes and all the great, wonderful things it too can do for you . . . guess the name of the game is ultimately still "Money."

Program literally doesn't run--just generates an error report to send to Microsoft. Have un-installed and re-installed 3xs to no avail. There is no information as to where to get support, and no help area on the www.familyfn.com website. Luckily I only paid $5 s/h for it--she's giving them away on her website.

Bandwidth- intensive graphics, video and audio applications are becoming more popular and the desire for fast access to information places a huge demand on high bandwidth in metro networks. The primary bottleneck in the quest for delivering high bandwidth to the customers is the last mile. The last-mile of today primarily relies on infrastructures that were not designed for the transport of digital data. The current infrastructure of twisted pair is very close to its upper limits As a result, consumers are unable to enjoy the full potential of the Internet and generally do not have access to enhanced services such as enriched multimedia services, converged voice, video, and data services and high-speed Web browsing. This thesis assesses a broad spectrum of wired and wireless last mile technologies available - Optical Fiber Technology, Digital Subscriber Lines, Free Space Optics, Wireless Local Loop, Wireless LAN and Cellular Technology. Besides discussing the basic concepts and principles, it highlights the current limitations of these technologies for last mile implementation. An innovative and state-of-the-art methodology for linking building with optical fiber to achieve high bandwidth through sewer systems is presented.
